Elizabeth Sackett
Chief Legacy Counsel
Elizabeth Sackett is the Chief Legacy Counsel at Legatis. Elizabeth has over 25 years’ experience in private practice and in-house litigating complex tort and insurance coverage matters and identifying and advising on emerging tort liabilities. In private practice, Elizabeth had a diverse corporate litigation practice with a heavy emphasis on Property and Casualty insurance disputes. Elizabeth was trial and appellate counsel in state and federal courts for some of the largest re/insurers writing coverage in the United States.
Before joining Legatis, Elizabeth was Assistant Vice President and Director at The RiverStone Group, where she held numerous roles, including head of a 20-person reinsurance recovery team, leading an in-house insurance coverage team, and creating and implementing an emerging tort risk framework to identify and strategize for mass torts. Elizabeth handled or supervised some of Fairfax affiliates’ largest exposures and regularly counseled executives and Fairfax Insurance affiliates regarding PFAS emerging risks and insurance coverage.
Elizabeth trained in legacy liabilities and legacy insurance as part of the Berkshire Hathaway Reinsurance Group, where she was Assistant Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Resolute Management Inc. Elizabeth handled complex coverage litigation throughout the United States and Canada and integrated several liability portfolios. In between these in-house roles, Elizabeth oversaw major claims and litigation and advised on pertinent insurance issues as a Senior Legal Counsel at CVS Health.
